We conduct the following researches such as ecological and environmental studies on Pacific salmon, mainly in their freshwater life period, in order to develop comprehensive methods of resource management for both wild and stocked salmon. Recently, the importance of conserving wild salmon stocks has been well recognized among citizens in Japan as well as in other nations, thus we are also involved in issues such as studies on situation of natural spawning, and/or conserving and developing the spawning ground. Besides, we try to develop active propagation techniques to enable the coexistence of wild and stocked salmon,  through the study about co-relation and proportion of those two populations in the rivers, using newly introduced techniques such as otolith thermal marking and stable isotope ratio analysis.
