Fisheries Resources Section conducts research on the sustainable
management of salmon resources to provide a stable supply of healthy foods
and develop fisheries industries. For the conservation and management of
salmon resources, we are investigating the mechanism which affects the mortality
rate of released salmon during their early ocean life, applying otolith
analysis or biochemical techniques to develop methods for evaluating their
growth and condition. Moreover, we are working on developing a method of
clarifying the accurate proportion of local stock in the adult salmon caught
in coastal waters. |
